The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has secured approval from 10 countries for its newly appointed ambassadors-designate.
According to Kimibie Ebienfa, the ministry’s spokesperson, the list of countries includes the United Kingdom, France, the United States, and Qatar, as well as several African nations, including Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Djibouti.
The ministry has confirmed that the process of receiving agreement from the countries to which the ambassadors are posted is still underway. Ebienfa mentioned that the responses from other nations are still awaited, with notable postings pending for Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany and Reno Omokri to Mexico.
“We have received agreements from the United Kingdom, France, United States of America, Ireland, Qatar, Benin Republic, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal, Sierra Leone, among others,” Ebienfa said.
As the approval process continues, the ministry assures that the induction ceremony for the appointed ambassadors will be announced once it has been finalised and confirmed by the presidency.

In March 2026, Tinubu approved the postings of 31 career and 34 non-career ambassadors, marking a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s diplomatic realignment.
Key appointments included Kayode Are, former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), posted to the United States; Ayodele Oke, former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), appointed to France; and Amin Dalhatu, former ambassador to South Korea, appointed high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
The reappointment and confirmation of these ambassadors signal a new phase in Nigeria’s foreign policy, with a focus on strengthening diplomatic ties and increasing international representation.
