Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take on host nation Morocco in the semifinal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in an encounter that carries huge significance for both sides.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with both teams aiming to secure a coveted place in the tournament final.

The Super Eagles sealed their semifinal berth with a commanding 2‑0 win over Algeria in Marrakech, a result that ended Algeria’s unbeaten run and showcased Nigeria’s attacking threat.

Before that match, Algeria had conceded only once in four games and was widely regarded for its defensive solidity.

Nigeria’s march to the last four has been impressive. The Eagles opened their campaign with a 4‑0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16 and have scored 12 goals in four games, the highest tally in the competition so far.

Morocco, meanwhile, booked their semifinal place with a hard‑fought win over Cameroon in their quarter‑final clash.

The hosts have enjoyed strong support throughout AFCON 2025 and have benefited from a disciplined defensive structure coupled with effective transitions in attack.

Morocco’s run to the last four continues to underline their status as one of African football’s rising powers.

Nigeria and Morocco have a rich competitive history, though they have not frequently met at the later stages of major tournaments.

Success in Rabat would set up a great final and extend Nigeria’s pursuit of a fourth AFCON title, having previously won the tournament in 1980, 1994, and 2013.

The winner of the Nigeria‑Morocco semifinal will advance to the AFCON 2025 final, where they will face the survivor of the other semifinal, rounding out what has been a competitive and unpredictable tournament.
