The Nigerian Senate has pledged its full cooperation to President Bola Tinubu to ensure the swift passage and rigorous implementation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
Speaking at a public hearing on Monday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio—represented by Deputy Barau Jibrin—framed the budget as a “moral document” designed to tackle Nigeria’s pressing inflation, infrastructure gaps, and security concerns.
Akpabio emphasised a shift toward fiscal discipline and “spending better rather than more,” citing the need to convert appropriations into measurable impact for citizens.

By opening the session to public and expert scrutiny, the Senate aimed to reinforce democratic accountability, urging stakeholders to act as “partners in national progress” rather than mere spectators.
