Troops of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, under Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an armed robbery attempt along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Shuaib Umar, said the troops were alerted to an ongoing robbery at Nasarawan Doka and immediately moved to the location, where they engaged the criminals and neutralised the threat.
According to the statement, one suspect, identified as Kabiru Zayyanu, was arrested after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg during the encounter. He was evacuated to Doka General Hospital, where he received first aid, while other members of the gang fled the scene.

The troops reportedly launched a hot pursuit of the fleeing suspects but made no further contact. The army stated that no casualties or abductions were recorded during the operation.
Umar also said that the arrested suspect would be handed over to the appropriate security agency after investigations are concluded. He added that troops continue to maintain a strong presence in the area to ensure sustained security.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
