The national grid has suffered yet another collapse.
Between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Wednesday, power generation plunged dramatically from 2,917.83 megawatts (MW) to an alarming 1.5 MW.
Soon after the incident, the Nigeria National Grid—an X handle that provides live updates on electricity supply—announced: “System restoration is in progress.”
A follow-up post on the platform revealed that electricity distribution had fallen to zero megawatts across all DisCos in the country, except for Ibadan DisCo.

“Disco load” refers to the specific allocation of power (in megawatts) distributed from the national grid to each Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo).
Confirming the collapse, Abuja DisCo issued a statement assuring its customers that efforts were underway to restore stability to the grid.
The company wrote:
“Dear Valued Customers, Please be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 hrs today, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas.
“Rest assured, we are working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure power is restored once the grid is stabilized. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
