Innovator and political strategist Toba Dosumu has called on Nigerians to embrace collective responsibility as the only sustainable path to national transformation, warning that future generations will hold today’s citizens accountable for inaction.
Speaking on News Central’s Fafanua Afrika programme, Dosumu stressed that meaningful change in Nigeria cannot rest solely on government action, but must be driven by citizens working together toward a shared goal.
“So the main thing is collective responsibility, and collective responsibility will enable us to achieve a greater goal in Nigeria,” Dosumu said.
According to him, progress will only come when Nigerians stop distancing themselves from national problems and begin to see themselves as active contributors to solutions.

Dosumu painted a stark picture of how history would judge the present generation, suggesting that excuses and apathy would no longer suffice.
“We all need to collectively look into all this matter and also take charge of our future because, at the end of the day, our children will ask us questions.
“Daddy, when this country was going like this, what were you doing? Mommy, are you just there looking at them? Are you just saying it’s not going to work, and you just assume it’s not going to work?” he asked.
He also challenged citizens to reflect honestly on their personal contributions, rather than placing the blame solely on political leadership.
“How many of us are ready to sacrifice? If you ask every one of us, what are we doing differently to change the status quo? We just keep saying the government, the government. What are we doing personally?” he asked.
While acknowledging that individuals may lack the power to initiate large-scale reforms alone, Dosumu emphasised the strength of collaboration and shared effort, citing News Central Africa as an example of a team-oriented organisation driving impact.
He further encouraged Nigerians to recognise that contribution does not require authority or prominence, but commitment and participation.
