The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a pre-enrolment portal that allows applicants to securely submit their details, upload required documents and schedule appointments before biometric capture.
In a statement posted on X on Friday, December 19, the commission said the portal will reduce waiting times at enrolment centres, improve data accuracy and ensure a smoother registration experience for citizens.
NIMC said the launch reflects its commitment to providing efficient, secure and citizen-centred digital identity services while making the enrolment process simpler and more accessible for Nigerians.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Dr Kayode Adegoke, explained that the new platform enables prospective applicants—both within Nigeria and in the Diaspora—to complete and submit their biodata online ahead of physical biometric capture at enrolment centres.

The commission said the initiative will help ease congestion and cut down long queues at enrolment centres nationwide.
NIMC added that the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises digital transformation, effective service delivery and inclusive national development.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr Abisoye Coker-Odusote, said the portal simplifies enrolment by allowing applicants to complete a significant portion of the process online before visiting an enrolment centre.
Key features of the portal include online capture and management of NIN biodata, appointment booking to minimise delays, and applicant-led data entry to enhance accuracy.
The platform also guarantees secure and confidential handling of personal information, supports easy document uploads and improves overall operational efficiency.
NIMC encouraged all prospective NIN applicants to use the Pre-Enrolment Portal, describing it as a faster and more convenient pathway to NIN registration, while reaffirming its commitment to building a reliable and inclusive digital identity system for national development.
