Nineteen Fatalities Linked to Measles Complications in Adamawa

Nineteen children have succumbed to measles complications in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami, conveyed this information to journalists on Saturday, April 27, 2024, revealing that over 200 children in Mubi LGA are currently infected.

The outbreak was initially reported in Yola on Saturday, prompting the mobilisation of medical personnel and supplies to the affected areas. Tangwami said that critically ill children would be referred to hospitals for further treatment.

Furthermore, Tangwami disclosed plans to dispatch a medical team to the Gombi Local Government Area of the State, where another outbreak has been recorded. He attributed the outbreak to parents’ reluctance to immunise their children.
