NOA Hails Security Agencies for Arrest of Yelewata Massacre Suspects

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has officially commended the Nigeria Police and other security agencies for the prompt arrest of the suspected mastermind behind the recent massacre in Yeletawa, Benue State, which led to significant loss of life and property.

Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director General of NOA, hailed the arrest as “a testament to the commitment of the security agencies to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.” He further noted that the swift action taken by the police and other security agencies has brought a sense of relief to the affected communities and the nation at large.

Issa-Onilu expressed his gratitude to the security agencies for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order in the country, emphasising that the arrest would serve as a deterrent to others who might be planning similar heinous crimes.

Reflecting on NOA’s role in government engagement, particularly concerning security, the DG stated that under the “Nigerian Promise of the National Values Charter, peace and security are considered one of the fundamental promises made by leaders to the people. He highlighted that the recent arrest is a fulfillment of this promise.

Issa-Onilu also acknowledged President Tinubu‘s direct involvement, noting that during his visit to Benue State, he had earlier ordered the security agencies to fish out those behind the act. He further commended the President for his prompt response to the situation, which has led to the arrest.

The NOA boss particularly praised the synergy and collaboration among the security agencies, which he described as instrumental in the suspect’s successful arrest.

He added that such cooperation is essential in tackling the nation’s complex security challenges.

Concluding his remarks, the DG urged Nigerians to “continue supporting the security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and stability in the country,” stressing “the importance of providing security agencies with accurate and timely information to aid their work.”

He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to promoting unity, patriotism, and national integration and called on all Nigerians to “work together to build a culture of peace and peaceful coexistence.”
