McLaren’s Lando Norris will start on pole position for Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix, with teammate Oscar Piastri joining him on the front row, securing a coveted McLaren lockout.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will form the second row after Saturday’s qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps.

Norris, who has won the last two races, heads into Sunday’s Grand Prix just nine points behind Piastri in the drivers’ standings.

“I was confident coming into today, so it’s nice to be on pole,” Norris stated after securing his 13th career pole.

He added that Piastri has been performing well all weekend, pushing him significantly.

“It’s tough because you see where your strengths and weaknesses are clearly, and you learn from each other quickly. It’s good, but it’s a tough battle that we have at the moment.”

Following McLaren’s 68th front-row lockout, Piastri commented on their dynamic: “We’re a good teammate pairing, and we learn a lot from each other each weekend; that’s what makes us a good team but also makes it difficult to fight each other.”

Earlier on Saturday, Verstappen won the sprint race ahead of the McLaren duo.
