North Korea continued their formidable run in the Women’s Asian Cup on Friday, securing a commanding 5-0 victory over Bangladesh.
After opening the tournament with a 3-0 win against Uzbekistan, the three-time champions arrived in Australia as title favourites and maintained their unblemished record with an even more aggressive performance.
Despite having two early goals overturned by VAR at CommBank Stadium, the North Korean side remained relentless in their pursuit of the lead.
Bangladesh, appearing in their first-ever tournament, struggled to cope with the pressure after their 2-0 defeat to China.
The deadlock was eventually broken during first-half stoppage time when Myong Yu Jong, following up on her previous hat-trick, successfully converted a penalty.
The momentum shifted rapidly as Kim Kyong Yong added a second goal just two minutes later, deep into injury time, leaving the debutants trailing 2-0 at the break.

The second half saw North Korea solidify their path to the quarter-finals as Bangladesh’s defence began to falter.
Kim, Chae Un Yong, and Kim Hye Yong each found the back of the net to complete the five-goal demolition.
As Group B action continues, the focus remains on North Korea’s perfect start, while defending champions China are set to face Uzbekistan in their second match of the competition.
