North Korea’s parliament will meet later this month to discuss constitutional changes and elect state leaders, state media reported on Tuesday.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) is scheduled to open on March 22.
The announcement followed the release of a list of 687 deputies elected during nationwide voting held on Sunday.

The election took place shortly after a major meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party, which directs the country’s policies on key matters including diplomacy and military planning.
According to KCNA, the upcoming session will consider the election of the president of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the selection of members of the state leadership, and the review of amendments to the socialist constitution.
Observers say attention will likely focus on whether leader Kim Jong Un will be formally named president, the country’s highest state position that has historically been associated with his grandfather, founding leader Kim Il Sung.
