The Ogun State Police Command has announced that it is investigating an alleged sexual assault case involving a woman, identified as Mirabel, who recently claimed that a stranger broke into her home and assaulted her.
News Central earlier reported that Mirabel’s case triggered public outcry after a video of her narrating the traumatic experience went viral on X and TikTok. In the video, the survivor said she attempted suicide after she was sexually assaulted.
Mirabel said she was sexually assaulted on Sunday and later received a text message from the alleged perpetrator, who claimed they had met twice before and that she had rejected his advances.
In an interview with Channels TV on Thursday, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, provided an update on the case.
Babaseyi said the police had established contact with the survivor after her video went viral. He revealed that police operatives traced her to the Ibafo area of the state and later discovered that the incident occurred in Ogijo, a border community between Ogun and Lagos.

“When the DPO in Ibafo met with her, she was taken to the hospital for medical analysis. She wasn’t as stable as necessary, but we ensured the investigation continued,” said Babaseyi.
“As we speak, she is in the intensive care unit getting appropriate care. Her medical well-being is more important to us at this point. When she is stable, we can now continue investigations and get the necessary facts,” Babaseyi said.
He also cautioned the public against making unfounded speculations about the case, which has gained public attention, as some social media users have questioned the credibility of Mirabel’s allegations.
“We advise people not to jump to conclusions based on emotions. We are investigating and will rely on evidence to reach a logical conclusion,” he said, asking individuals with useful information to come forward,” said Babaseyi.
