Australian racing driver Oscar Piastri claimed victory at the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, fending off his McLaren teammate Lando Norris to secure a commanding win and extend his lead in the drivers’ championship to 16 points.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completed the podium in third place, as Piastri delivered another composed performance during a disrupted 13th round of the season.
Heavy rain caused an 80-minute delay before the race eventually began with a rolling start, following four laps behind the safety car as clearer skies finally emerged.
Norris, who had started from pole, was overtaken by Piastri early on after reporting issues with his car’s battery. From that point on, Piastri maintained control at the front of the pack, guiding McLaren to their sixth 1-2 finish of the season.

“I knew lap one was going to be my best shot at winning the race,” said Piastri. “We managed the rest of it well.”
Norris was succinct in his praise for his teammate: “Oscar did a good job; nothing more to say.”
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen, who won Saturday’s sprint race, finished fourth. It marked the first race weekend under new Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies, following the dismissal of Christian Horner two weeks ago.
