The Osun State House of Assembly on Monday approved a bill seeking to amend sections of the state’s local government law.
The legislation, titled “Osun State Local Government Amendment No. 2 Bill, 2026,” was passed after its third reading during plenary in Osogbo, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Lawal Bamidele, presented the committee’s report on the bill along with its recommendations.

The Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, subsequently called for the adoption of the report, while Majority Leader Babajide Adewumi moved the motion, which was unanimously endorsed by lawmakers. Adewumi also moved the motion for the bill’s third reading, paving the way for its passage.
Following its approval, Egbedun indicated that clean copies of the bill would be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
The amendment seeks to review provisions of the Osun State Local Government Law, Cap. 72, Volume IV, Laws of Osun State, 2002, and related matters. The Assembly thereafter adjourned plenary until March 2.
