Osun Lawmakers Endorse Governor Adeleke for Second Term

Lawmakers in the Osun State House of Assembly have expressed their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.

The 26-member Assembly passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership during Tuesday’s plenary session.

The motion was introduced by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, who represents the Obokun State Constituency, and was seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South Constituency.

The endorsement, which coincided with Governor Adeleke’s 65th birthday celebration, received backing from 25 lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the House, who led the session, commended the governor’s performance, describing his administration as focused on the people and results-oriented. He noted that Adeleke has demonstrated a strong dedication to his five-point development agenda.

As representatives of their constituents, the Speaker stated that the lawmakers were proud of the governor’s leadership and encouraged him to persevere with his commendable efforts.

Hon. Simeon Popoola, representing the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, also voiced his support for the motion, portraying Governor Adeleke as a man of integrity.

Following the discussions, the Speaker called for a voice vote on the motion, which the House unanimously accepted.
