Abia State Governor Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with investors to accelerate development and create employment opportunities across the state.

He stated this at Government House, Umuahia, during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the Aba Commercial Smart City, a project projected to generate about 125,000 jobs.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, the governor said the project would, on completion, position Aba and Abia State as a major industrial hub, driving sustainable economic growth and large-scale employment.

Otti emphasised that his administration prioritises job creation over handouts, stressing its commitment to providing meaningful and sustainable employment for youths and other residents.

He called for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors, noting that such partnerships had already delivered results, including 90 consecutive days of uninterrupted power supply in Aba.

The Manager of Technical Services for the Aba Commercial Smart City, Mr David Okoro, said the project would occupy 140 hectares of land in the Osisioma Local Government Area.

He added that it would create 25,000 direct jobs and about 100,000 indirect jobs across Abia State.
