The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received praise for its handling of the ongoing Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
Speaking with journalists on Saturday after casting his vote at Polling Unit 008, Katampe Village Square, the immediate past Speaker of the Bwari Area Council Legislative Arm, Julius Adamu, commended INEC for conducting a credible and peaceful election.
“The atmosphere is peaceful, and there is no argument. People are simply casting their votes for their preferred candidates,” Adamu noted. Reflecting on his journey, Adamu shared that, though he had initially contested for the chairmanship position under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he decided to step down after consulting with party leaders. Adamu chose to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in his ward, Joshua Musa, for the betterment of the area.

Party agents echoed Adamu’s sentiments, with Glory Onuoha, the Supervising Agent for the Zenith Labour Party, calling the election “orderly and credible.” Similarly, Ilesanmi Adegoke, the New Nigeria People’s Party agent, praised the early arrival and coordination of INEC officials at the polling unit.
As elections continue across the six area councils, voters are participating in a generally calm and secure voting process, with high hopes for a successful and peaceful conclusion.
