Members of the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday stated that they had not received any court order halting the planned convention scheduled for Sunday, 29 March, and Monday, 30 March 2026.
The committee’s publicity secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, told journalists at a press briefing in Abuja that the party remains prepared to proceed with the convention, having met all legal and internal requirements.
Earlier, members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee had informed journalists that they had filed an appeal challenging the Court of Appeal ruling, which nullified the Ibadan Convention.
Some individuals within that faction have also sought a court order to stop the convention from being organised by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, confirmed that the convention would go ahead as planned, adding that reconciliation efforts among aggrieved members would continue after the event. He dismissed the appeal lodged at the Supreme Court by the Tanimu Turaki faction, stating that it would not affect the conduct of the convention.
Speaking after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome in Abuja, the venue for the event, on Friday evening, Wike explained that reconciliation within the party is an ongoing process.
He stressed that while the convention would proceed, efforts to address internal disagreements would continue thereafter.
“There is room for accommodation. The PDP is a very large party. Look at the umbrella, it is wide enough to accommodate everyone.
“There will always be a few who are not happy. We have agreed to sit down with them, understand their concerns, and see how we can accommodate them. What is most important is the overall interest of the party,” he said.
On zoning arrangements, the minister confirmed that positions had already been allocated across regions.
The former Rivers State governor also expressed confidence that the PDP would surprise Nigerians in the 2027 general elections by demonstrating its strength.
