One person has died after a plane that departed from Canada crashed in Greenland, the Danish airport authority, Naviair, confirmed on Monday.
Naviair reported over the weekend that the aircraft, carrying only the pilot, disappeared from radar on Saturday while flying over Sermitsiaq Island, north of Greenland’s capital, Nuuk.
“The crash site was located this morning, and sadly, there are no survivors,” the authority said in a statement.

Greenlandic media indicated that the wreckage was discovered once the fog cleared over the weekend.
Brian Thomsen of the Greenlandic police told the local newspaper Sermitsiaq that the aircraft was found on the slopes of the Sermitsiaq mountain, but in an area currently too difficult for authorities to access.
Officials have yet to release details about the identity of the deceased.
