Cade Cunningham’s triple-double, Daniss Jenkins’s buzzer-beater three-pointer, and Javonte Green’s dunk in overtime propelled Detroit to a 137-135 victory over Washington on Monday, extending the Pistons’ winning streak to seven games.
In an unexpected nail-biter, the NBA’s second-ranked team narrowly defeated a Wizards squad that dropped to an NBA-worst 1-10, marking their ninth straight loss.
“We knew how big this game was for us,” Jenkins said. “We weren’t going to let nothing stop us from getting this W.”
Cunningham achieved a career-high of 46 points by making 14-of-45 shots and converting 16-of-18 free throws, along with 12 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals, and two blocks, as Detroit improved to 9-2. Jenkins contributed off the bench with a career-high 24 points and eight rebounds, while Duren added 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Pistons.
C.J. McCollum topped the scoring for Washington with 42 points, hitting a floater with 14 seconds left that gave the Wizards a 126-121 advantage. However, Jenkins, who had been sidelined for three games, drained a three-pointer with three seconds to go, and after a free throw by Kyshawn George for Washington, he hit another three-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 127-127 and push it into overtime.

In another thrilling extra session, Norman Powell scored 33 points, and Andrew Wiggins added 23, including the winning dunk at the overtime buzzer, leading Miami to a 140-138 win over Cleveland and ending the Cavaliers’ four-game winning streak, leaving both teams at 7-4. Jaime Jaquez’s jumper with 7.1 seconds left brought Miami level at 128-128 and forced overtime.
Powell hit two free throws with 6.5 seconds remaining to give Miami a 138-135 lead, but Donovan Mitchell, who scored 28 points for the Cavs, drained a three-pointer with just 0.4 seconds on the clock to tie the game. Nevertheless, Miami clinched the victory at the buzzer when Wiggins executed an alley-oop dunk off a pass from Nikola Jovic.
Another intense game unfolded in Orlando, where Desmond Bane’s three-pointer at the final buzzer secured a 115-112 home win for the Magic over Portland.
Paolo Banchero led Orlando with 28 points, while Bane contributed 22, missing all five of his earlier three-point attempts before sinking the game-winner.
