The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a temporary power interruption in parts of Sokoto Town due to planned maintenance work at the Sokoto Transmission Substation.

In a statement issued on Saturday, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the company would conduct annual preventive maintenance on the 30/40MVA power transformer at the substation on Saturday, 17 January 2026, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

TCN explained that during the maintenance period, the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company would be unable to receive bulk power from the affected transformer to supply electricity to some areas of the state.

The company said the exercise is necessary to enhance service delivery, stressing that the maintenance will improve the safety, reliability and efficient operation of the transmission equipment serving the area.

TCN apologised to residents for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding as efforts continue to improve the performance of the power system.
