The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has ordered the arrest of the perpetrators who were responsible for the recent killings in Plateau, which claimed the lives of no fewer than 10 people.

On Sunday, bandits stormed the Ratatis community in Dorowa Babuje, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area and unleashed unprecedented terror on the residents.

In a statement shared on Tuesday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, the state government condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and senseless.

This unfortunate incident comes at a time when sustained investments in dialogue, reconciliation, and community engagement have significantly improved the relative peace currently being enjoyed across the state,” the statement read in part.

“Those who sustained injuries are presently receiving medical attention at nearby health facilities, while the Government is closely monitoring their condition and ensuring that they receive the necessary care.”

Ramnap added that a joint search-and-rescue team comprising security operatives and relevant government officials has been constituted to assist victims, account for missing persons, and stabilise the affected community.

She added that Mutfwang has directed security operatives to intensify operations and strengthen security presence in the community.

Mutfwang also expressed condolences to the families of the bereaved and prayed for the recovery of injured victims.
