The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death following a domestic dispute in Angwan Yahaya, Agyaragu, in the Obi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, the incident was reported to the Agyaragu Police Division at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police officers were immediately deployed to the scene, while the victim was taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, for medical examination and preservation.
Police said the suspect was arrested and confessed during interrogation, claiming he assaulted his wife after she reportedly refused to prepare food.
The disagreement allegedly escalated into a physical attack that resulted in her death. He was also said to have expressed remorse over the incident.

The deceased is survived by two children—a boy and a girl—from the couple’s six-year marriage.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a comprehensive and speedy investigation.
He assured residents that justice would be pursued and that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police commissioner also condemned all forms of domestic violence, describing the incident as both tragic and preventable. He urged couples to resolve disagreements through dialogue and lawful means rather than violence.
The command added that the security situation in Agyaragu and neighbouring communities remains calm, with officers continuing to monitor the area.
