The Lagos State Police Command has shut down an illegal pharmaceutical operation in the Ojo–Ijanikin area and taken the on-site security guard into custody.
The facility was reportedly producing large quantities of counterfeit and dangerous drugs. The police have declared the property owner, identified only as Ebuka, wanted.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh said the raid eliminated a significant source of fake medications that posed serious public health risks.
The illegal factory, located on the top floor of a multi-storey building, contained machinery suspected of being used to manufacture counterfeit drugs and manipulate product expiry dates.

Jimoh explained that the operation was based on credible intelligence from local divisional officers.
He noted that another key suspect, known as “the developer” and believed to finance the factory, is currently being sought.
He stated that the command will work with regulatory agencies to ensure full prosecution of those involved and extend investigations to other related sites.
“Section 57 (Seizure) empowers officers to confiscate drugs, medicines, poisons, and other contraband. The Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods Act, Section 9, mandates the Police Force Squad to investigate fake drugs and assist the Federal Task Force in enforcing the law, making arrests, and conducting investigations,” Jimoh said.
He advised residents to verify the authenticity of medicines before purchase and assured the public that any information shared with the police would remain confidential.
