Police Spokesperson Urges Citizens to Respect, Understand Nigerian Laws

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has encouraged Nigerians to become acquainted with the country’s laws, stressing that everyone may easily access them.

Adejobi noted in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday that Nigeria is governed by several laws in addition to the two main criminal codes, the Penal Code for the North and the Criminal Code for the South.

He wrote, “Be aware of the law: Nigeria has two main criminal laws: the penal code for the north and the criminal code for the south. There are further acts, which we call miscellaneous acts. There are no restrictions on these laws (law books).”

He went on to urge people to take action, saying, “Let’s get them, read, and be familiar with our laws as Nigeria is not a lawless country.”

Recall that Adejobi was previously accused by human rights activist Deji Adeyanju of exploiting his position to oppress Nigerians.

He and his legal firm petitioned the US, UK, Canada, and EU to ban the FPRO’s visa.

Adejobi was accused in the petition of ordering the wrongful arrest and detention of people for voicing their ideas online on several occasions.

The police spokesman has continuously justified police brutality and used the law as a weapon against dissenters, the petition claims.
