Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Ange Postecoglou following an eight-game winless streak in charge of the club.

The announcement was made in a brief statement posted on X and the club’s official website on Saturday, shortly after Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that, following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the club wrote.

“The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou’s short spell at The City Ground failed to deliver a single win, with six defeats in all competitions, including a dramatic Carabao Cup loss to Swansea City, where Forest surrendered a 2-1 lead in stoppage time to lose 3-2.

His side managed only two draws — against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League.

Despite mounting pressure, the Greek-Australian coach had recently insisted he was unconcerned about speculation over his future after a 3-2 Europa League defeat at home to Midtjylland.

Postecoglou’s tenure lasted just 39 days, making him the second Premier League manager to lose his job in as many months.

Earlier in June, he was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur — just 16 days after leading the North London club to their first trophy in 17 years, a Europa League triumph secured with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao.

The 60-year-old had joined Nottingham Forest in September following the exit of former manager Nuno Espírito Santo, whose departure came amid reported tensions with the club hierarchy.

After eight matches in the 2025/2026 Premier League season, Forest have recorded only one win, two draws, and five defeats. They currently sit 17th in the table with five points.
