President Bola Tinubu on Friday welcomed Nigerian-born American football player Morotoluwa Ojomo to the State House in Abuja, following his recent triumph in the National Football League (NFL) Super Bowl.
Ojomo, who was accompanied by his father, Ololade; his mother, Bimbo; and his sister, Modele, met with the President just weeks after helping the Philadelphia Eagles claim victory in Super Bowl 59.
The Eagles secured their second-ever championship with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9, 2025 in New Orleans.
Born in Lagos, Ojomo moved to the United States with his family at the age of seven. He returned to Nigeria on Wednesday for the first time since his Super Bowl success.
During the meeting, Tinubu commended the 23-year-old’s determination and resilience, highlighting the importance of engaging with Nigerian talents abroad to support national development, particularly in sports.
“With the kind of focus that you have, you can mentor many youths here and develop them,” Tinubu told Ojomo.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigerian professionals in the diaspora, particularly in areas that can contribute to youth empowerment and skills development.
