President Tinubu Says APC Doors Open to Wike

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu said on Wednesday that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is ready to welcome the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, if he chooses to join the party.

Tinubu made this statement during the inauguration of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road) and additional roads in Katampe District.

The president remarked that the APC would remain celebratory with Wike on board, while the opposition would continue to suffer.

“We have somebody in Nyesom Wike. He is not a member of my party—not yet. But the day he changes his mind and registers with the Progressives, we will welcome him.”

Regarding the road project, the president indicated that residents of the Gishiri community impacted by the construction had already been relocated and compensated, emphasising that the government did not seize the land.

He explained that the project signifies more than just a road; it embodies his dedication and transformative approach as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In his introductory remarks, the Minister thanked the president for backing the FCT Administration, which he claimed was essential for completing this and other initiatives.

Wike pointed out that some individuals are displeased with the president’s efforts to improve the nation’s infrastructure, stating that the opposition’s planned coalition against the president is doomed to failure.
