South Africa withstood a superb all-round display from Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza to secure a five-wicket victory on Sunday, maintaining their unbeaten run ahead of Wednesday’s T20 World Cup semi-final against the New Zealand national cricket team.
After Zimbabwe posted 153-7 in New Delhi, South Africa overcame an early wobble in their chase. Dewald Brevis struck a blistering 42 from 18 balls as last year’s runners-up reached 154-5 in 17.5 overs.
Raza had earlier top-scored with 73 and followed up by claiming 3-29 with his off-spin for Zimbabwe, who had shocked the Australia national cricket team and co-hosts Sri Lanka national cricket team during the group stage to progress to the Super Eights.
He made an immediate impact with the ball, dismissing Quinton de Kock for a duck, caught behind off the third delivery of the innings. In his next over, he bowled South Africa captain Aiden Markram for four.

Ryan Rickelton was struck on the helmet by a bouncer from Brad Evans and required five minutes to recover. He responded by launching Evans for two consecutive sixes in the following over before being caught for 31.
Brevis and David Miller, who made 22, added 50 runs before Zimbabwe struck twice more in quick succession. Blessing Muzarabani removed Miller, and Raza returned to dismiss Brevis. However, Tristan Stubbs (21 not out) and George Linde (30 not out) combined in an unbroken stand of 53 to guide South Africa home.
Earlier, after electing to bat, Zimbabwe lost in-form opener Brian Bennett for 15, having scored an unbeaten 97 in their defeat by the India national cricket team.
Raza reached his half-century from 29 balls before falling to left-arm seamer Kwena Maphaka, caught by Miller off a leading edge. Clive Madande provided late impetus with 26 not out from 20 deliveries.
Maphaka finished with figures of 2-21 from his four overs, while Corbin Bosch returned 2-40.
