PSG Secure £57 Million Deal for Zabarnyi

Paris Saint-Germain have signed Ukrainian centre-back Illia Zabarnyi from Premier League side Bournemouth in a deal worth about £57 million (€66 million), according to British media.

PSG announced on Tuesday that Zabarnyi, 22, becomes the first Ukrainian to play for the club. His arrival could threaten Brazilian stalwart Marquinhos’s place in the starting line-up.

Zabarnyi impressed during the 2024–2025 season, helping Bournemouth secure a ninth-place finish. Supporters voted him Player of the Season.

Bournemouth have now sold three of their first-choice defenders from last term, following Milos Kerkez’s move to Liverpool and Dean Huijsen’s transfer to Real Madrid.

The Qatar-owned French champions, who defeated Inter Milan 5–0 to lift their first Champions League trophy in May, also signed highly-rated Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier last Saturday.

This move raises speculation about Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future, as the Italian international is absent from the squad for Wednesday’s European Super Cup final against Tottenham in Italy.

His omission could spark interest from Premier League giants, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly monitoring the situation.
