Putin to Meet US Envoy for Ukraine Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with US envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the war in Ukraine.

The talks come on the heels of negotiations between American and Ukrainian officials regarding a US-backed peace proposal.

Despite the push for a resolution, Putin recently repeated his maximalist demands, insisting that Kyiv must surrender the territories claimed by Moscow or his military would take them by force.

The meeting, which the EU has called “pivotal,” occurs while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky seeks European support in Paris and US President Donald Trump expresses optimism about a potential end to the nearly four-year conflict.
