The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported on Sunday that an Israeli attack on its headquarters in Khan Yunis, Gaza, resulted in the death of one staff member and injuries to three others.
The aid organisation stated in a post on X that Israeli forces targeted the building, causing a fire on the first floor.
A video shared by the PRCS, which they claim shows the initial moments of the attack, shows a building ablaze and floors covered in rubble.
This incident follows a visit by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff to a U.S.-backed aid station in Gaza two days prior.
The envoy’s visit was to inspect efforts to deliver food aid to the region, which, according to UN agencies, is “on the brink of a full-scale famine.”
The attack is the latest in a series of incidents where aid workers have been killed.
In March, the UN humanitarian office reported that eight Red Crescent staff members, six civil defence employees, and one UN worker were killed in an Israeli attack in southern Gaza.
The war began with Hamas’s October 2023 attack on Israel, which killed 1,219 people, mostly civilians. Since then, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed at least 60,332 people, the majority of whom were civilians, according to figures from the Hamas-run health ministry, which the UN considers reliable.
