Major-General Moundhey Gadzama Ali (rtd), a pioneer Commander of the Special Forces, appealed to Nigeria’s entire military community—both serving and retired officers—to actively support and cooperate with the Minister of Defence-designate, General Christopher Musa.
Ali stressed that the new minister faces an “enormous” task in defeating terrorism, insurgency, and banditry, which demands practical solutions and honest counsel from experienced officers, rather than political silence or observation.
He encouraged all senior officers to view Musa’s appointment as a national commitment and urged them to contribute actively to strengthening his capacity.
The retired general also advised Musa to remain focused and firm, especially when confronting the “powerful interests” and sponsors of criminal networks.

Additionally, Ali criticised the general culture of political patronage and weak accountability in public screenings, arguing that Nigeria must embrace merit and transparency to gain global respect.
Nigeria continues to grapple with severe and widespread security challenges, including the long-running Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, sophisticated banditry and kidnapping rings in the North-West, and various other emerging threats across the country.
Following his retirement as Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa was nominated by President Bola Tinubu to serve as the Minister of Defence, a move widely viewed as a positive signal for continuity in the fight against insecurity.
