Moscow announced on Saturday that its forces had seized two additional villages in eastern Ukraine, as Kyiv officials reported Russian strikes had killed one person and injured 19 others.
According to Russia’s defence ministry, its troops captured the villages of Sudne and Burlatske, located in the southern part of the Donetsk region. The settlements are near Velyka Novosilka, a town that Russian forces took control of in late January.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched 154 drones overnight. It said 103 were shot down, while 51 vanished from radar without causing any known damage or casualties.
Despite this, Ukrainian regional authorities confirmed casualties from Russian strikes. In the southern Odesa region, prosecutors said one person was killed and three others wounded. Twelve people were injured in the northeastern Kharkiv region, while two were wounded in the southern Kherson region.
In Pokrovsk, a key rail and mining hub where Russian forces have been advancing, two more people were reported injured. The town’s strategic position makes it an important logistical centre for Ukrainian troops.
