Russia has denounced the recent US military strikes on Venezuelan boats in the Caribbean Sea, which Washington claims were transporting drugs.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the actions “illegal” and “unacceptable,” accusing the US of acting like a “lawless country” under the pretext of fighting drugs.
Venezuela, led by President Nicolas Maduro, is a close ally of Moscow, relying on the Kremlin for political and economic backing.

Lavrov criticised the United States for “destroying (the boats) without trial or investigation, and not only without trial and investigation, but without presenting any facts to anyone.”
The incident marks another sour point in US-Russia relations, following recent tensions over the war in Ukraine.
