Kenyan Singer, Ruth Matete has made her comeback months after deactivating her social media accounts following the death of her husband. Upon her return, the award-winning singer requested Kenyans to be gentle with their words, saying that although getting back on social media is not a walk in the park, life has to continue
Ruth after going through a traumatizing experience with the death of her husband and the drama surrounding his death wrote; “Taking a day at a time. Please be kind with your words. It’s Not easy for me to be back on social media. But life has to go on,” appealed Matete. She took the opportunity to introduce her newly opened YouTube channel where she intends to inspire and give hope to those undergoing difficulties in life through the page dubbed “Pst. Ruth Matete

The talented singer reportedly deactivated all her social media handles back in April this year, a move thought to be a shield from negative comments while mourning her late husband Beloved John Apewajoye. Ruth, who was also expecting a baby, before deactivating her social media accounts, was joined by thousands of Kenyans including her musical counterparts in mourning Apewajoye’s tragic passing.
She stated at the time her husband John Apewajoye had gone to be with the lord and asked for prayers to get through the difficult time. Apewajoye’s body laid at the Kenyatta National Hospital morgue until July 23 when she was allowed to bury him. Initially, the Nigerian Embassy had barred Matete from burying her husband until investigations into the circumstances in which he died were complete.
The former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) winner said her husband succumbed to burns suffered after a gas cylinder exploded at their house but her Nigerian in-laws suspected foul play. However, on April 23, Chief government Pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that Matete’s husband died due to multiple organ failure after suffering 60 percent burns.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had formally requested Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) mortuary to waive the body preservation charges of the singer’s husband. The hospital wanted Sh600,000 to release the body.
