Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections in the state.
Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, arrived at their Ward E3, Polling Units 006 and 007 at St. Stephen Nursery and Primary School on Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island, at about 11:06 am. The governor cast his vote around 11:10 am.
The Deputy Governor, Kadri Hamzat, also participated in the election, casting his vote earlier at 11:05 am at his polling centre in Oke-Balogun, Epe.
The elections are being held for chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councillorship positions across the 20 local government areas (LGAs) and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.
Speaking after voting, Sanwo-Olu commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for its performance, noting that despite a few logistical issues, materials arrived early at most polling units. However, he also acknowledged a low voter turnout. At Polling Unit 006, where about 634 voters were expected, fewer than 50 had shown up by the time he voted — a trend observed across the state.
