Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry announced on Wednesday that two cruise missiles were intercepted over an area south of the capital, Riyadh, while state media reported that a separate drone attack had also been thwarted.
The Ministry of Defence of Saudi Arabia said, in a statement, “Two cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed in the Al-Kharj district.”

The official Saudi Press Agency quoted a ministry spokesperson as stating that “nine drones were intercepted and destroyed immediately upon entering the Kingdom’s airspace ”.
The authorities did not specify who was responsible for the attempted attacks.
