Senegal’s national football team held a celebratory lap of honour with the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy on Saturday at the Stade de France.

The symbolic parade took place ahead of an international friendly against Peru, following a pre-match performance by renowned Senegalese musician Youssou N’Dour.

Led by captain Kalidou Koulibaly, the squad presented the silverware to a jubilant crowd in Paris, marking a defiant public appearance for the team.

The event follows a period of intense sporting and administrative controversy surrounding the January tournament.

While Senegal emerged victorious in a high-stakes final against the host nation, Morocco, the title was officially stripped by football authorities just weeks later.

Despite the official ruling, the weekend’s demonstration at France’s national stadium underscored the team’s continued claim to the continental championship and the enduring support of their global fan base.
