The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, has summoned all the Service Chiefs to the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja for a crucial meeting to discuss recent attacks on military installations in the North East.

Attending the high-level session are the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass, and representatives from the National Intelligence Agency, among others.

The meeting follows a series of deadly attacks targeting military bases and personnel, with recent reports indicating that at least three Commanding Officers holding the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel were killed by terrorists in Borno State.

After the meeting, Musa said that the nation’s military is still in control of insecurity despite new terrorist and bandit attacks in the Northeast.

“We had a quick meeting with members of the services to review our strategy in all our theatres within the country. We are aware of the issues on the ground, but I want to assure Nigerians that members of the Armed Forces are working tirelessly to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure,” he stated.

He added that while the military had reported some casualties during operations, bandits and terrorists were suffering greater losses.

“We know we have suffered some casualties, but I can tell you the terrorists and bandits are taking more. We are taking out more of their commanders and destroying their assets, and we will continue to do that.”
