Seven Feared Dead as Gunmen Attack Plateau State, Nigeria

At least seven persons were killed on Sunday night by unknown gunmen at Dong village in Plateau State.

The assailants were reported to have suddenly invaded the village and shoot sporadically. Seven villagers were said to have died from the gun attack.

Plateau police spokesman confirmed the incident. He said “…on Sunday 23/05/2021 at about 2000 hrs, the Command received a distress call that yet to be identified gunmen came out suddenly from a near by bush, invaded Dong Village, Jos South LGA and killed seven persons.

Gabriel Ubah remarked that “a combined team of Policemen, STF, Vigilante operatives led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operation, arrived swiftly on the scene but the hoodlums had already fled back into the bush at the time.

He assured citizens that “investigations are ongoing, and frantic efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
