Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Saturday to condole with the state government and residents following an attack on the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area.
Shettima’s aircraft landed at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport at about 10:30 am.
He was accompanied by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume, and former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege.
The vice president was received at the airport by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Yakubu Salihu, and Senator Sadiq Umar, who represents Kwara North.
Other officials present included members of the state executive and legislative councils, security commanders, local government chairmen, and ruling party officials.

Shettima’s visit comes four days after gunmen attacked Woro village late Tuesday, killing scores of people, burning shops and a traditional ruler’s residence, and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes.
Local sources said the attackers shot indiscriminately after villagers reportedly refused attempts by an extremist group, identified as Mahmuda, to indoctrinate them.
Two vehicles belonging to the village head were said to have been used to transport abducted residents.
The attack followed recent military operations in parts of Kwara State against what authorities described as “terrorist elements.”
“Troops also stormed remote camps hitherto inaccessible to security forces where several abandoned camps and logistics enablers were destroyed, significantly degrading the terrorists,” the military said in a January 30 statement.
In response to the violence, the Kwara State government imposed curfews in some areas and temporarily closed schools, which are expected to reopen on Monday.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who earlier visited the affected community, described the attack as genocide and vowed that those responsible would be flushed out from the border areas of Kwara and neighbouring Niger State.
