Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her four-year break from the spotlight, revealing that she chose isolation to focus on self-reflection, personal growth, and spiritual transformation.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning artiste said the period allowed her to gain clarity and operate on “a different level,” both mentally and emotionally.
“I have done so much work over these past four years. The transformation of my mind started before I had my child. Isolation gave me hindsight, insight, and foresight — the biggest gifts God has given me besides my daughter,” she said.
Seyi Shay added that her time away also reshaped her perception of men. “My spirituality has transformed, and I am vibrating on a different level now. I actually feel very comfortable with men. I love all the men — it’s a man’s world,” she noted.
The singer also addressed why she has not married the father of her daughter, describing their situation as “a technical issue.”
“He’s great, he’s cool, he’s around. He’s Nigerian, based in the UK, and works in the music industry on the corporate side. We’re raising our child together and remain great friends,” she explained.
Her revelation comes shortly after fellow singer Tiwa Savage revisited their past altercation, shedding new light on the infamous salon confrontation that once made headlines.
