Six Die In South Africa’s Multiple Auto Crash

No fewer than six people have died in a multi-vehicle crash in Mokopane of Limpopo Province, South Africa.

The spokesman to the Limpopo transport and safety department on, Matome Taueatsoala, said on Thursday that “We lost six people when a truck allegedly failed to stop at the robot and then smashed into five vehicles.”

Taueatsoala said the truck then caught fire and hit four pedestrians.

“The four pedestrians died on the spot, including the driver of the truck and the passenger who was in a truck,” he said.

One driver who survived was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Taueatsoala said Limpopo was already experiencing a high volume of cars on the roads.

As the festive season approaches, he said the authorities would ensure police visibility on the roads and carry out plans to reduce fatalities.
