Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he intends to speak with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning before deciding whether the forward will feature in this weekend’s Premier League match against Brighton.
The Egyptian star accused the club of “throwing him under the bus” after being named on the bench for last week’s 3-3 draw at Leeds—the third consecutive match in which he has not started.
Speaking after the game at Elland Road, Salah also claimed he had no relationship with the Dutch manager.
The 33-year-old was omitted from the squad entirely for Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League victory at Inter Milan and later posted a photo of himself training alone in the gym at Liverpool’s training base.
“I will have a conversation with Mo this morning—the outcome of that conversation will determine how things look tomorrow,” Slot told reporters during his pre-match press briefing.

“I think the next time I speak about Mo, it should be with him, not here. You can keep trying, but there isn’t much more to say. After the Sunderland game, there were many discussions between his representatives and ours, and between him and me.”
Slot declined to go deeper into the dispute but added, “I have no reason not to want him to stay—and that’s something of an answer to your question.”
Salah, who signed a lucrative two-year extension in April that placed him among the Premier League’s top earners, is expected to join Egypt’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations after Saturday’s match at Anfield.
His return date will depend on Egypt’s progress in the tournament in Morocco, which concludes on 18 January.
Third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list with 250 goals in 420 appearances, Salah has won two Premier League titles and a Champions League crown during his time at the club.
He netted 29 league goals last season as Liverpool secured their 20th English title, but has managed only four goals in 13 league outings this term.
Liverpool sit 10th in the table after a dismal run of form, winning just two of their past ten league matches. Salah has recently been linked with a potential move to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League.
