Arne Slot has urged his Liverpool squad to treat their upcoming fixtures as three finals, warning against complacency ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against basement club Southampton.
The Reds are on course for a remarkable season, leading the league by 13 points, holding a 1-0 advantage over Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League last-16 tie, and gearing up for a League Cup final against Newcastle next weekend.
Slot, however, is determined to keep his players focused on the immediate task at hand.
“Our full focus, my full focus, is now on Southampton, which is the first of three finals to be played in the upcoming week,” he said on Friday.
With crucial fixtures against PSG and Newcastle looming, Slot called on fans to create a charged atmosphere at Anfield on Saturday.

“I hope our fans will be as loud as possible, not just in the final or against PSG, but tomorrow,” he said. “I have to convince my players that we play three finals. I hope our fans understand how important they are.”
Reflecting on Liverpool’s narrow victory in Paris, Slot admitted his team were “really, really, really lucky” to come away with a win, with goalkeeper Alisson Becker putting in a stellar performance.
“But as Michael Jordan once said, the harder you work, the more luck you have,” Slot remarked, praising his players’ effort.
In his first season at Anfield, the Dutchman acknowledged that teams sometimes need to grind out results, even when not at their best.
“If you want to win something—whether it’s the Premier League, the League Cup, the Champions League, or the FA Cup—you need to have games where you don’t play your best but still get a result,” he said.
Liverpool will be looking to maintain their dominance in all competitions as they enter a pivotal week in their campaign.
