South African Parliament Speaker’s Home Raided in Corruption Probe

Security operatives stormed the Johannesburg home of National Assembly Speaker, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula on Tuesday morning.

The operatives combed the home of  Mapisa-Nqakula until mid-morning, before leaving.

She is accused of soliciting a R2.3 million bribe from a military contractor, during her tenure as Defence Minister.

Mapisa-Nqakula responded to the raid through Parliament’s spokesperson Moloto Mothapo, saying she’s innocent of all charges levelled against her.


Mothapo says Mapisa-Nqakula welcomed and cooperated with investigators when they arrived at her home because she had nothing to hide.
