South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been found dead in her Seoul home, police confirmed. The 24-year-old was discovered by a friend at around 4:55 p.m. (07:55 GMT) on Sunday in the Seongsu-dong district.

Authorities stated that no signs of foul play were detected, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.

Born in Seoul in 2000, she gained recognition for her role in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which led to her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. She further cemented her status in the industry with performances in The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing film that year, and the 2012 thriller The Neighbour, which earned her award recognition.

Her other notable works include the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the television series Mirror of the Witch (2016).

In 2022, Kim largely withdrew from the public eye following a drink-driving incident. She was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023 for the offense.

Her last role was in Netflix’s 2023 Korean drama Bloodhounds, though Variety reported that much of her screen time was edited out due to the controversy surrounding the incident.
