Spain’s football coach, Luis de la Fuente, expressed high confidence that his current squad is on course to become “legendary,” similar to the Spanish team that dominated global football between 2008 and 2012.
Following their recent Euro 2024 victory, Spain have a perfect record in World Cup qualifiers (four wins, 15 goals scored, zero conceded) and can secure qualification this weekend if they defeat Georgia and Turkey fails to win their match.
Despite this success, the team is hampered by several key injuries, including those to Rodri Hernandez, Nico Williams, and Dani Carvajal.

Additionally, there was tension between the Spanish federation and FC Barcelona after young winger Lamine Yamal was released from the squad for treatment of a groin injury he sustained at his club.
De la Fuente attempted to cool the situation, stating that relations with all clubs are “marvellous” and emphasising that the team’s immediate concern is winning its upcoming match against Georgia.
